**BPS Supports Statistical Human Resource Development through STIS Student Selection**
September 28, 2026 | Other Activities
Jayapura, September 2026 - A total of 66 prospective students took the Basic Competency Test (Seleksi Kompetensi Dasar or SKD) as part of the 2026 Student Admission Selection (Seleksi Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru or SPMB) at the Polytechnic of Statistics STIS. The examination was held at the Regional IX Office of the National Civil Service Agency (BKN) in Jayapura on Friday, 25 September 2026, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT).
The SKD is a crucial stage in the admission process for prospective students seeking to enrol at the Polytechnic of Statistics STIS, a government-affiliated higher education institution under Statistics Indonesia (BPS) that specialises in statistical education.
Before entering the Computer Assisted Test (CAT) examination room, all candidates underwent a series of procedures, including registration, data verification, and body checks. These procedures were carried out to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination and to uphold an orderly, transparent, and regulation-compliant selection process.
The selection process is expected to identify prospective students with the competence, integrity, and potential to excel in the field of statistics. Developing skilled statistical professionals is essential to ensuring the availability of high-quality data, which serves as a foundation for development planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Papua Province hopes that all candidates will perform to the best of their abilities throughout the selection process and achieve the results needed to advance to the next stage.
The participation of prospective students in the Polytechnic of Statistics STIS admission process also forms part of broader efforts to develop a new generation of professionals who can contribute to the advancement of official statistics and support evidence-based development, particularly in Papua Province.
