• The percentage of poor people in Papua Province over the past six months increased by 0.14 percentage point, from 27.62 percent in March 2017 to 27.76 percent in September 2017.
• The Poverty Line (GK) in urban areas in September 2017 was IDR 508,403, - higher than the rural GK which reached IDR 446,994, -. This means that the costs to meet basic needs for food and non-food are greater in urban areas than in rural areas.
• The role of food commodities towards GK is far greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health), which is 74.58 percent compared to 25.42 percent.
• Food commodities that have a major influence on GK in urban areas are rice, filter clove cigarettes, tuna / tuna / skipjack, purebred eggs, and purebred chicken. While commodities that have a major influence on GK in rural areas are sweet potatoes / rice, rice, filter clove cigarettes, pork, and tree cassava.
• In the period March 2017 - September 2017, the Poverty Depth Index (P1) and the Poverty Severity Index (P2) showed a declining trend. This indicates that the average expenditure of the poor tends to be slightly close to the poverty line
