Abstract

• In September 2017, the level of inequality in expenditure by Indonesians measured by the Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.398. This figure increased by 0.001 points when compared to the March 2017 Gini Ratio of 0.397. Meanwhile, when compared to the September 2016 Gini Ratio of 0.399, the September 2017 Gini Ratio fell by 0.001 points.
• Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2017 was recorded at 0.302, down compared to March 2017 Gini Ratio of 0.322 and September 2016 Gini Ratio of 0.318. While the Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2017 was recorded at 0.407, up compared to the March 2017 Gini Ratio of 0.395 and the September 2016 Gini Ratio of 0.392.
• In September 2017, the distribution of the lowest 40 percent population expenditure was 15.18 percent. This means that population expenditure is still in the category of moderate inequality. If broken down by region, in urban areas the figure is 20.98 percent, which means it is in the category of low inequality. While for rural areas, the figure was 15.64 percent, which means it was included in the category of moderate inequality.
