The number of sea transport passengers departing in January 2019 was 8,624 people, 7,370 people from Jayapura port and 1,254 from Merauke port. There was a decrease in the number of departing passengers by 40.90 percent compared to the previous month.
The number of passengers arriving by sea transport in January 2019 has decreased by 8.08 percent. As many as 20,815 passengers arrived in Papua, consisting of 19,858 people coming to Jayapura port and 957 people coming to Merauke port.
The decrease in the number of passengers arriving by sea transport in Papua Province was driven by the absence of long holidays and office activities that began to carry out activities as usual.
The volume of goods loaded in January 2019 was 9,918 tons. An increase of 4.51 percent compared to the previous month. At the Port of Jayapura, the loading volume of goods in January 2019 was recorded at 8,460 tons. While at the Port of Merauke, the cargo loading volume was 1,458 tons.
The volume of goods unloaded in January 2019 was recorded at 114,169 tons. There was a 8.67 percent decrease compared to its volume in January 2019. At Jayapura Port, the volume of unloading goods in January 2019 was recorded at 87,158 tons. At the Port of Merauke, the volume of unloading goods was recorded at 27,011 tons.
