Employment Profile: Inter-Provincial Analysis in Papua and the New Autonomous Regions 2024

This publication presents an analysis of the impact of the expansion of Papua into four new provinces based on the Papua Expansion Law (Law No. 14, 15, and 16 of 2022). The main focus of this analysis is on the employment conditions in each of the new provinces, using data from the 2024 National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas). With this publication, we hoped that a better understanding can be obtained regarding the comparison of employment conditions between provinces, as well as the impact of expansion on the structure and dynamics of the workforce in Papua. It will also discuss the basic concepts of employment, including the definitions of Working Age Population, Labor Force, Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK), and Open Unemployment Rate (TPT). In addition, an explanation of the comparison between the definitions of employment used in Indonesia and the international standards set by the ILO. A clear understanding of these terms is important for analyzing employment data accurately.
