Abstract

  • In February 2015 the second city in the province of Papua CPI recorded a change in the same index number, which is equally experienced a decline in the index (deflation). Jayapura city experienced a deflation of 0.04 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 119.64 and Merauke experienced deflation of 0.93 percent with CPI of 124.87.
  • Of the 82 cities CPI recorded 70 cities experiencing deflation (including the city of Jayapura and Merauke) and 12 cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation was in the city of Tual 3.20 percent and the lowest occurred in Manokwari regency 0.04 percent. The highest deflation occurred in Bukittinggi -2.35 percent and the lowest deflation at 0.04 percent Jayapura City. Jayapura City ranks 13th on the national level and the order of 05 at level Sumapua (Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua).
  • Monthly inflation rate of -0.04 percent Jayapura City, higher than the national monthly inflation rate of -0.36 percent, while the rate of inflation for the calendar year (February 2015 to December 2014) Jayapura City of -0.47 percent, higher compared with the national calendar year inflation rate of -0.61 percent. For the year on year inflation rate (February 2015 to February 2014) the city of Jayapura 5.96 percent or less than the amount of 6.29 percent nationwide.
  • Deflation in Jayapura in February 2015 due to decreased prices of goods and services indicated by a decrease in the index of expenditure groups: education, recreation and sport 0.23 percent and transportation, communication and financial services 1.07 percent. While the increased index figures are foodstuff by 0.08 percent; food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.47 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.30 percent; clothing group 0.57 percent and 0.34 percent of health groups.
  • In February 2015 monthly inflation at the core component of 0.40 percent, the inflation component of the government regulated price inflation -1.07 percent and -0.36 percent is a volatile component. The rate of inflation in the core component of 1.02 percent, the inflation component of the government regulated price inflation -4.47 percent and -0.91 percent is a volatile component. Year on year inflation of 4.72 percent for the core component, the inflation component that cost the government set at 12.54 percent and 4.21 percent inflation volatile components.
