Ø From 82 city CPI recorded 75 cities suffered inflation (including the city of Jayapura and Merauke) and seven other cities experiencing deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga of 4.59 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in the fields of 0.02 percent. While the biggest deflation occurred in Gorontalo-0.58 percent and the deflation of the smallest occurred in Tanjung Pandan-0.02 percent. Jayapura ranked 23rd nationally and seventh in order of level of Sumapua (Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua). Meanwhile, Merauke is keenamdi national level and fourth-level Sumapua.

Inflation in Merauke in January 2016 occurs due to an increase in the price of goods and services indicated by the rise in the index in the Group of expenses: the group housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 4.11 percent; food group so, drinks, cigarette and tobacco 1.18 percent; food ingredients group 0.23 percent and education, recreation and sport 0.02 percent. While the decline in prices of goods and services indicated by the decrease in the index in the group transport, communication and financial services-0.72 percent; group health-0.38 percent; and group clothing 0.06 percent.
