in August 2016 second city of CPI in Papua Province recorded changes of
different index numbers where the city of Merauke from Jayapura
deflation while experiencing inflation. Jayapura-0.18 percent deflation with consumer price index (CPI) Inflation experienced in Merauke and 126.15 0.69 percent with CPI of 130.41.

From 82 city CPI recorded 33 cities suffered inflation (including
Merauke) and 49 other cities suffered deflation (including the city of
Jayapura). The highest inflation occurred in Manokwari and Sorong where the second city of the province of West Papua each recorded amounted to 1.27 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in Jakarta and Kendari where both cities is recorded each of 0.01 percent. While the biggest deflation occurred in Kupang of-0.87 percent and the deflation of the smallest occurred in Cilegon of 0.01 percent. Jayapura ranked-47 at the national level (47/82) and ninth in order of level of Sulampua (09/18) (Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua). While the Merauke ranks eighth in the national level and at the level of the third order Sulampua.

While inflation in calendar (January-August 2016)-0.48 percent of
Merauke, lower compared with the rate of inflation in the national
calendar. Inflation rate year on year (August 2016 against August 2015) Jayapura of 4.01 percent, higher than the rate of inflation year on year nationwide amounted to 2.79 percent. While the year on year inflation in Merauke of 7.26 percent, higher than inflation year on year.

Deflation in the town of Jayapura in August 2016 happened due to
decrease in prices of goods and services indicated by the decrease in
the index in the Group of expenses: food ingredients Group-1.35 percent
and group transportation, communication and financial services- 0.21 percent. While the Group's spending increase is a group health 0.81 percent; food group so, drinks, cigarette and tobacco 0.44 percent; the group housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.42 percent; Group clothing 0.41 percent; as well as educational, recreational and sport 0.14 percent. Inflation in Merauke in August 2016 occurs due to an increase in the price of goods and services indicated by the rise in the index in the Group of expenses: food group so, drinks, cigarette and tobacco 1.57 percent; the Group of education, recreation and sport 1.32 percent; Group food 1.06 percent; Group the group housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.48 percent and 0.05 percent health group.
