• The total workforce in Papua in February 2019 reached 1,808,848 people, a decrease of 42,638 compared to the conditions in February 2018
• The population of people working in Papua in February 2019 reached 1,746,963 people, a decrease of 30,244 compared to August 2018 and also a decrease of 50,705 compared to the situation a year ago (February 2018).
• The number of unemployed people in February 2019 was 61,885 people, an increase of 3,129 people compared to August 2018 and when compared to the conditions in February 2018 it increased by 8,607 people.
• Over the past year, the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in Papua has increased from 2.91 percent in February 2018 to 3.42 percent in February 2019. Likewise when compared to the conditions in August 2018 it increased by 0.22 percent
• In the last six months (August 2018-February 2019), the three categories of business fields that experienced the largest decline in the number of workers were: the Agriculture Category, the Large and Retail Trade Categories, and the Government and Defense Administration categories. This category of business fields is the business field that experienced the largest decline in employment in the last six months.
• Out of a total population of 1,808,848 people working in February 2019 in Papua, the majority of the main employment status are unpaid workers / family workers (30.11 percent), followed by non-permanent / unpaid labor assisted status (29 , 90 percent).
The other main employment statuses which have a percentage above 10 percent are laborers / employees (21.83 percent), and self-employed (15.45 percent). Free worker status has a small percentage of less than two percent.
